Dr Marios Polycarpou

Dr Marios Polycarpou started his medical training in 2005 at the medical school of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and completed his six-year-long studies in 2011. Upon obtaining his medical degree, he returned to Cyprus where he completed his yearlong pre-registration practice in internal medicine and general surgery at the Limassol General Hospital and Paphos General Hospital. Moving back to Thessaloniki he followed a six-year-long specialist training, to acquire a title in Cardiology. In that time frame he worked for the first two years as an internal medicine resident doctor at the General Hospital of Thessaloniki ‘’St. Demetrios’’ and the rest of the years as a cardiology resident at General Hospital of Thessaloniki ‘’G. Gennimatas’’ and at University General Hospital of Thessaloniki AHEPA. Following the successful completion of the mandatory examination, appointed by the Panhellenic Medical Association, he was accredited with the specialty title in Cardiology in 2021.
During his training he has been academically active in all the hospitals he has served. In addition, during his specialist training in paediatric cardiology at the University General Hospital of Thessaloniki AHEPA, he was appointed by the professor and director of the aforementioned department, to be responsible for the lessons and general educational programme of the final year students of AUTh during their clinical study in paediatric cardiology. Returning to Cyprus, he worked for two years as a private Cardiologist being a member of an out-patient cardiology office in Nicosia district (2021-2023), offering his services through Cyprus General Healthcare System (GeSY), following his incorporation into the team of Limassol Cardiology Centre in December of 2023. Currently, Dr Marios Polycarpou is a member of the Cyprus Medical Association as well as the Cyprus Society of Cardiology. He is also a member of the Panhellenic Medical Association, the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and the European association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI).
